This year saw an expansion in the range of events, with the re-introduction of chess and inaugural competitions in poetry recital and spelling.
Following the completion of well over 30 competitions in 14 different disciplines, the final standings in this year's ‘Lees Cup’ remained in the balance right up until the final week of the year.
With only the Spelling Bee and the Athletics to be added, Brontë appeared to hold a comfortable lead. However, determined efforts by both Priestley and Houldsworth Houses to claw back that lead resulted in one of the closest competitions in recent memory.
