Ski Trip – Nassfeld, Austria.
Final checklist
Dear Parent / Guardian,
Well, the trip is almost upon us and there has been excellent snow fall in Nassfeld. Please find details of our travel arrangements and other essential information.
Passports / EHIC medical cards.
These must be handed into Mrs Illingworth in the business office by MONDAY 9th February. If your son/ daughter does not have a EHIC card, you may apply for one on line at www.ehic.uk.com/apply.html or by phoning 08456062030. Please put the passport and medical card in an envelope with your son/ daughters name written on and Nassfeld, February ski trip.
Arrangements for Friday 12th February.
Arrive at school in time for normal registration with your form. Please wear the clothing you intend to travel in.
Deposit luggage in the dining hall with a member of staff.
Go to registration as usual, assembly and lessons 1, 2, 3.
Report to the dining room at 10.40am, ensure you collect all your bags / ski equipment.
Wait in the main school entrance until instructed to board the coach by a member of staff.
Coach will arrive at 10.45am. (Weardale Motor Services, Durham. 49 seater executive coach).
Load luggage onto coach
Coaches should depart at 11.00

I will ask all pupils to ensure they have contacted you via mobile phone when we are an hour away from school to give you an accurate arrival time. If any pupil does not have a mobile phone, they may use one of the school mobiles. In the event of a significant delay or an early arrival, I will ensure you are contacted in the same fashion as soon as I have accurate information. Please ensure you have made arrangements with your son / daughter as to whom will be collecting them from school. I will stress to pupils that they must not change these arrangements. If for any reason you are unable to meet them upon arrival, please contact me on one of the emergency numbers shown below. Please do not park on the left hand side of North Street to allow access for the coach.
During the journey
All students must remain seated at all times with their seat belts fastened.
The coach will make comfort stops during the journey.
Ensure you make use of the rubbish bags available.
To avoid travel sickness, do not eat lots of sugary food such as sweets or chocolate. Fizzy drinks are not permitted on the coach. Drink plenty of water.
Chewing gum is banned, please do not bring any with you on the trip.
DVD’s will be shown during the journey. Please bring any suitable DVD’s with you.
Any Ipods / MP3 players or games must only be used with ear phones.
Upon arrival at the resort.
All students to unload their baggage and go to dining / meeting room.
Rooms will be allocated to groups of students. Usually six to a room.
Hotel welcome and orientation from PGL rep – Fire procedures / arrangements.
Ski fitting – Boots / skis / poles. It is essential that students bring a pair of ski socks with them.
If you are bringing your own boots and need to hire skies, please ensure you bring one boot to the fitting.
Issue of electronic lift passes (these should be kept in a secure pocket in your ski jacket and not removed).
Evening meal hotel.
Group meeting to give details of skiing arrangements.

Note that luggage space in the coach will be limited; please bring a medium sized case.

At least four pairs of ski socks (long enough to cover the shin)

Wrap around sunglasses with suitable UV protection

Après ski boots or heavy shoes – to be worn on the trip

Helmet (Any student not bringing their own helmet will be supplied one from BAC leisure. This is included in the price of the trip)
Note: As we are preparing packed lunches to eat on the mountain you need to bring a small rucksack or bag that can be worn on your back to carry your lunch while skiing.

Packed lunch (Please note there is a student on the trip who has a severe nut allergy, please DO NOT bring any items that may contain nuts)
All personal belongings remain the sole responsibility of the student whilst on the trip. Please look after your belongings and do not leave bags unattended.

Hire Equipment
BAC leisure will deliver all hired ski wear and helmets into school prior to our departure, I will issue a message to all pupils as soon as the date for this is confirmed.
BAC leisure in Elland has a vast amount of ski clothing available for purchase and you will be given a discount if you mention the school.
