Parents will no doubt know that the secretary of state for education has written to outstanding schools giving them the option of converting to academy status, subject to new legislation currently passing through parliament.

At their meeting on 17th June the governors of the school resolved to proceed with an application with a view to securing academy status by the 1st September. Pupils have today been given a letter to take home regarding this decision and we recommend all parents to read this letter, a copy of which can be downloaded by clicking here.

A list of frequently asked questions compiled by the department for education can be downloaded by clicking here.

Making music can be an incredibly rewarding activity whether it is personal satisfaction and pride in mastering a new skill, or the thrill of performing in front of friends and family in a major concert venue. As well as learning a specific skill which can remain for life it can also enrich and support many other aspects of learning. There are many instruments to choose from and such a wide range of musical styles from different times and places - everyone can enjoy the experience of playing a musical instrument. Music is an important part of many people’s lives and the experience of learning a musical instrument will help develop a deeper understanding and life long love of music.  Further information click here.
