Parents and pupils in Year 7 to 10 are warmly invited to attend our celebration evening on Wednesday 14th July when this year's prize winners will be able to receive their awards.  The school will be open between 5.00pm and 7.00pm and the presentations will be made throughout the evening in each departmental area.

Work is progressing well on the implementation of our new Cashless Catering System which will be fully operational from the end of May 2010.

Parents of all pupils will shortly be receiving a letter via pupil post explaining how this will affect students and the new procedures that will be implemented. Parents are also invited to a Parents Information Evening to be held on Wednesday 19th May at 7pm in the Main Hall, and further details on this are enclosed in the letter. 

School is OPEN as normal today, Monday 22nd February. Year 11 parents' evening will also go ahead this evening as planned.

Snow is falling and some smaller roads around school are slippery. We understand that some families may not want to set out. We will go ahead with the presentation if people turn up, however we will arrange a second presentation soon for those who miss.

Please note that the year 9 Parents' Evening is on Wednesday 4th March. Some early versions of the school calendar had a different date listed. The choice of 4th March allows parents to ask about suitability for GCSE courses, if necessary, prior to returning the options form.

The local authority has a published proposals for the re-organisation of secondary education in North Kirklees and the consultation document "Brighter Futures" is now available to a download as a pdf file. Governors are giving careful consideration to the proposals which seem to promise exciting opportunities for all young people in North Kirklees. They welcome the endorsement of the quality of education at HGS contained in the "Brighter Futures"  document and look forward to having the opportunity to engage constructively with the local authority. Governors intend to hold a consultation evening for parents on the evening of Thursday 23rd October.
